While we were waiting for our flight we learned that our plane was super full and that they might even have to ask some people to volunteer to take another flight. Well we ended up getting on, but when we boarded, our seats were already taken. So, the kind flight attendant sat us in different seats that were not next to each other. No big deal, I took my seat next to a pilot, who had just finished his flight round and was headed home, and I grabbed my book. The kind pilot said he would try to entertain me since I was separated from my flying buddy. We made small talk and he asked me where we were headed and I told him about the conference. THEN, I WAS BLOWN AWAY! He said, "Oh yeah, I know all about adoption. We have adopted 3 times." WHAT? REALLY? What are the chances? Well, pretty good when God is in control! It was an awesome flight and he was able to share great stories and information. The hour and a half flight went by in a blink.
I hope to write about the different sessions that I sat in on at a later time. There is far too much information for one post! I can tell you that the weekend was full of wonderful conversations, laughing, meeting new people, worship, tears, eating, resting, learning, and listening. I don't stop near enough in the busyness of everyday life to listen to God. I did this weekend and it was beautiful!
I learned a lot about different organizations that strive to help the orphans and widows in need. These organizations are run by normal, errand running, snot wiping, tear stopping, loving mommas, who have listened to God's call and have hearts that are broken for what breaks our Father's heart.
I learned about the ins and outs of international and domestic adoption. My eyes were opened to the world of foster care. They were opened to children that are put in unlikely situations and how God is watching over them each and every day. He is speaking to the hearts of these little ones who wait for their forever homes.
One of the songs that we sang during worship (which by the way...250+ women singing praises = AMAZING) was Come Away. I am not sure who actually sings it, but it is a wonderful song with a powerful invitation from God!
Come away with me.
Come away with me.
It's never too late,
It's not too late,
Come away with me.
It's never too late,
It's not too late,
It's not too late for you.
I have a plan for you.
I have a plan for you.
I have a plan for you.
I have a plan for you.
It's gonna be wild, It's gonna be great, It's gonna be full of Me.
I am so excited to watch this journey of life to unfold for my family. I am so excited that God knows the plans for us. I don't know where we are headed but I know that it's gonna be WILD, it's gonna be GREAT, and most of all, it's gonna be full of HIM!
If you haven't stopped lately to listen to God, I pray that you would! I promise, He won't let you down!

Ah, I have goosebumps. You're amazing - the heart that God has given you is sooo big, and I am forever grateful that He put us together 20 some years ago!!!
I love doing life with you,
Ash
This is so amazing. I read it when you published, and then read it again. I am happy you had such a great experience!
Once I sat by a pilot, too. After that, I don't really have any fears of crashing! Its great to know they are real people, too!
