I Want That!!!!!!!

And it has started - all of the toy commercials that spark the shrill of children all over the place..."I WANT THAT!!!" I am sure my daughter isn't the only child who, during the 1 minute commercial can say that phrase 500 times! I know there are always toy commercials on but it seems that we have reached the time of year where the advertising market kicks it into turbo gear and it is only OCTOBER!!!

Now, don't get me wrong...I LOVE to buy Christmas gifts for other people. I am not as big a fan of getting them but I LOVE to buy them. But seriously, it seems that as a society we are getting away from the true meaning of Christmas. We started working with Ally last year that Christmas was Jesus' Birthday. This year she understands much better! While driving home from my mom and dad's house the other night, we were talking about Christmas and that is was Jesus' Birthday and Ally said, "Mommy, I know what we can do for Jesus' Birthday! We can have a party!" (The kid LOVES birthday parties!) So I said, "Sure we can do that! What should we have at this party?" With a look that said DUH MOM!, she said/screamed "WE CAN HAVE CAKE!" She thinks that Jesus would like to have a princess cake! We are still discussing what kind of cake to have! :o)

It is such a stressful time of year for many people for many different reasons; too much hustle and bustle, a drain on money or the inquiring of more debt for gifts, too many family events that conflict and that is just naming a few! I pray that in the upcoming Christmas season we would all stop, share the real meaning of Christmas with those around us and count our blessings!

We went through that "I want this" two years ago. Last year was much better with Hunter. This year he doesn't even want to make a christmas list and I'm not pushing it! lol We always make a birthday cake for Jesus on Christmas Eve...maybe we could have our party together this year!
